Andrew graduated with Honours from the School of Clinical Dentistry, Sheffield University, with part of his training undertaken at La Universidad Complutense de Madrid.
After a year in general dental practice near Bristol, further training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Oral Medicine, Paediatric Dentistry and Restorative Dentistry was undertaken in specialist units including the Regional Maxillofacial Unit Aintree, Alderhay Children’s Hospital and Liverpool Dental School.
In 2008 he started a 5 year higher specialist training programme in Restorative Dentistry based at The University of Bristol Dental Hospital. This included clinical attachments to other UK leading centres of dental expertise including the Birmingham Dental Hospital and the University College London Eastman Dental Institute.
During specialist training he gained a University of Bristol MSc with distinction in Dental Implantology. He also worked part-time in private dental practice in the Bristol area providing general private dentistry, aesthetic dentistry and management of patients affected by tooth wear. International experience was gained at the University of Leuven, Belgium, Malmö University, Sweden and in Toronto, Canada.
Following completion of his specialist training, Andrew worked as an Honorary Visiting Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Bristol Dental Hospital providing specialist advice and treatments for patients referred in by general dental practitioners with complex restorative dental problems.
In 2013, he was appointed as the Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at Addenbrookes, Cambridge University Hospital. His consultant role is focussed on providing restorations and prostheses to improve aesthetics and function for patients with complex situations bought about by Cleft Lip and Palate working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Andrew has published articles in the dental and maxillofacial literature and contributed to international scientific meetings in Stockholm, Vienna, Geneva and Monte Carlo. He enjoys postgraduate teaching and the opportunity to meet colleagues from a broad range of practising backgrounds.
